THE DELPHI PROJECT
Contact: Reflection Freenote
The Delphi Project of Open Habitat explores self-awareness through discussions and the use of objective psychological tests available free on the internet.
In the first two months of development the assessments have grown to 22 primary kiosks which allow people to assess themselves on issues as broadly divergent as personality and emotional strengths, to vocational interest, internet addiction, stress, anxiety, depression or relationship style.
Having two discussions a week, we focus one of these on a specific test so that attendees can get feedback about their questions and findings, and the other is a more general discussion related to the psychological concept associated with that assessment.
Over the past two months, the project has proven interesting and we have had more than 995 separate visits to the assessments. Our discussions are archived and available for review to all who are interested in the topics.
Finally, we are encouraging graduate student research and currently have a dissertation survey being offered to visitors having to do with cyber relationships.

COSMIQUE III
Contact: Thoth Jantzen
Cosmique III is an immersive multi-media virtual environment consisting of 5 different areas or exhibits, each accessible from the others via local teleporters. One of the most immersive and enjoyable experiences in SL, it’s a “must see” when you visit Open Habitat. You need to have QuickTime ™ installed on your computer and Audio/Video preferences set to “view streaming media when available”.
IMPORTANT: IF YOU HAVE EPILEPSY THIS MAY NOT BE A GOOD IDEA FOR YOU!
We recommend that you set your graphics settings to “High” or better and set your draw distance to 300m maximize your enjoyment. “Medium” settings also work, but you do miss details and subtle touches. Lag should be minimal as very few different textures are used, however bandwidth/connection speeds can have an impact.
The Cosmique experience is a trip (think “chemical”) involving a variety of exhibits, all immersive to varying degrees – some extremely so. There are local teleporters placed at key places to make it easy to get from one to the other. Try them all or pick a favourite and just “veg out”. Take your time — Cosmique meant to be enjoyed and experienced!
The various areas/exhibits are:
Comsique III Main Platform: Located inside the 300m tall x 100m wide Super Kaleidoscopium, you can enjoy the view from the seats, wander around the “forest”, or enjoy the experience in one of the Nth Dimension cubes.
The Media-Active Art Gallery: Accessed from the TP panels you will see around, this is a massive installation of media-active art created by Thoth Jantzen and friends.
V-Max, Kaleidoscopium, and Kaleidotunnel: Variants on THE most immersive multi-media experience in SL. Be sure to hold on tight to something solid before entering…
(See calendar for schedule of events and/or feel free to drop by at any time).
